A Year of Rollovers
It has been more than a year since the jackpot was last won. A player from Montappone in Fermo, Marche, won €156 million on 22nd May 2021, and the top prize reset to €31 million.
Millions of ticket holders have enjoyed success over the past year and some great prizes have been paid out, but the jackpot has remained just out of reach and its value has climbed steadily.
After going past €100 million in October, the jackpot topped €200 million earlier this month for only the second time in history.
And it is now higher than the €209 million mark that has been the record since August 2019. It was a player from Lodi in Lombardy who banked that historic prize, coming forward to claim it two months later. Take a look at the list of the top 10 winners of all time.
Biggest Jackpot in the World
The SuperEnalotto jackpot is currently the largest lottery prize available anywhere in the world, eclipsing even the American multi-state games Powerball and Mega Millions, as well as EuroMillions and Eurojackpot.
There is no limit to how much higher the jackpot could go. It will keep rising until at least one ticket holder matches all six numbers, so more records could be broken in the coming weeks or months.
How to Play
You need to pick six numbers from 1 to 90 to play SuperEnalotto. You can also add the SuperStar option to give you more ways of winning. This requires you to select one more number from a separate set of 1 to 90.
Another option is to play a system, where you can choose more than six numbers. This is a great way to boost your chances, as different combinations within your selected range will be entered into the draw.
You can play in-store in Italy or online, as long as you are at least 18 years old. When you play online, it provides greater security as your numbers can’t get lost or damaged. It is even possible to take part online without being in Italy. Check the latest results after every draw to find out when the record jackpot gets won.
