The jackpot has already been breaking records for more than a month, having hit an all-time high back at the end of June when it eclipsed the previous best of €177.7 million. A syndicate of 70 players won that huge prize back in October 2010, with a ticket bought in Milan.
It has taken more than a year for the top prize to build to its current amount, and last month it also became the largest lottery jackpot to have ever been seen in Europe when it surpassed the €190 million mark, a sum that has been won on EuroMillions on several occasions.
With no jackpot cap in place for SuperEnalotto, there is no way of knowing how much higher it could go before someone finally wins. However, a number of players have picked up impressive prizes over the past couple of weeks, coming tantalisingly close to toppling the jackpot.
More Players Getting Close To The Jackpot
There have only been three ‘Match 5 + Jolly’ winners since the start of 2019, but two of those have come in the last few draws. A ticket holder from Rome scooped €850,548 on Thursday 25th July, before a player from Milan banked €872,206 on Tuesday 30th July.
Four tickets also won €145,612 each after matching five main numbers plus the SuperStar on Saturday 27th July. Ticket sales have been increasing steadily in line with the jackpot, with €175 million generated from the cost of all entries across the month of July, up from €153 million in June.
The jackpot has also gone up by €2 million for the next game on Saturday, rolling over from €199.4 million to €201.4 million. This is a larger jump than usual and indicates that more players will take part now that the top prize has reached new levels.
With more combinations entered into the draw, it becomes increasingly likely that the jackpot will be won, so it could be that there aren’t too many chances left to play for the record-breaking amount.
It only takes one line of lucky numbers to win the jackpot, and you can take part ahead of the next draw by playing online or buying tickets from a retailer in Italy. Check out the SuperEnalotto Results after the next draw and it could just be that you become the game’s first €200 million winner.
