Caltanissetta Jackpot Winner
The SuperEnalotto jackpot had not previously been won since 1st August 2017, when a player from Caorle in the province of Venice landed €77.7 million. The eight-and-a-half month wait finally came to an end thanks to a fortunate ticket holder from Caltanissetta in Sicily, who purchased their entry at via Vitaliano Brancati 15, a popular newsstand attracting many locals and commuters between Palermo and Catania.
The date and time that the winner bought their ticket has not been disclosed, but it has been revealed that they spent just €2 on their ticket. Fabrizio Sunseri, the husband of newsstand owner Sabrina Savarino, described himself as ‘very happy’ and told reporters that a number of other players had picked up some big wins with them in recent years.
SuperEnalotto Jackpot Winners
The latest win is the largest SuperEnalotto prize to have ever been paid out in Sicily, eclipsing the €100.7 million won by a Catania player on 23rd October 2008. Visit the SuperEnalotto Winners page to see where Sicily ranks among Italy’s most successful regions.
There have only been four bigger jackpots given away since SuperEnalotto was launched in 1997, headlined by the record €177.7 million won by a 70-strong syndicate on 30th October 2010. Learn more about the biggest SuperEnalotto jackpots.
SuperEnalotto in 2018
While the SuperEnalotto jackpot has been growing since last August, there have still been a host of big winners in every draw. SuperEnalotto has six prize tiers, plus six more if you play the SuperStar, while you can also claim Instant Win prizes at the point of purchase. Highlights in 2018 have also included the recent SuperEnalotto Raffle, which awarded 100 guaranteed prizes of €100,000.
Next Jackpot
Even though the jackpot has just been won, the top prize for the next draw will still be worth an impressive €24 million, as a percentage of the prize money is kept in reserve each time there is a rollover to ensure there is always a substantial starting jackpot.
